Its been ages.

Hi folks,


Its been ages since I have updated this blog. No reason not to other than I just got lazy about it and other things got in my way. I will promise to do my best to keep it going this time with monthly and or weekly updates.


First of all updates on all the kiddos = grands, daughter in laws, and sons.


Landyn and Lil Jarrod have had colds. Lil Jarrod has been suffering from ear infections. He is going to have tubes put in his ears in the near future. Landyn has strep and bronchitius, poor guy. I guess going to daycare has it pro's and con's. Its good for the parents to have a place the kids can go to that they trust good that the boys have play mates, a structured enviroment, but bad to share germs and illnesses that go along with that enviroment. Laura is still going to college. She did great in her studies and aced her first semester. Jarrod stays busy with work and activities that go along with being a USAF recruiter, but they all seem to be doing great in Georgia! Between the college courses, recruiting duties, being a Mom, Dad, and soccer, I am sure there is very little down time for these two.


Corben called tonight to talk. He shared the phone with Kyra, too. We chatted briefly. I sure do miss those two badly at times. I remember Corben when he was little (not so little anymore at 13!) standing on the couch next to me and hugging me, giving me sweet kisses. We would play a little night night game, the longer he hugged, the more we giggled, the more we giggled, the longer he got to stay up. Was I wrapped? OH NO not me...LOL.. I just went along with the game because I sure got tons of hugs! Kyra told me she is reading on 6th grade level now and doing so well in school. I truly think the love of reading is soooo vital to a child and helps in school work in EVERY way.


Noah and Alden are doing well too. I picked them up a couple of days after school last week. I also had them a couple evenings while Jennifer and Derrick spent time with a friend who had lost her husband unexpectedly. I love hearing Alden giggle and talk. He and Poppa spent time watching the cotton pickers work in the back field. They rode up to the corner to watch them work and one of the guys got off the harverster to talk to them. He offered Alden a ride on the "big green tractor". He was so excited when he shared that news with me. He told me all about it was so excited he kept tripping over his words. You can definetly tell he is an outdoor person. Noah and I are content to be on the inside doing our own things.


Funny thing that happened this week, was our neighbor John was harvesting his pecans and Alden asked Mrs. Cathy (John's wife) all about it. She told him once they were picked up that Uncle John took them and sold them for money. We talked about that on the way home and I told them they could pick up the pecans in our yard. Lo and behold they wanted to! I was telling them if they picked up the nuts each year, put the money in savings they would have enough to help buy a car when they got old enough to drive. Well that really spurred them on. They each got about a half of WalMart bag full and wanted me to make sure I gave it to Uncle John to sell. I am sure they had visions of nice shiney red convertible in their minds with their bag of pecans. Noah wanted to know how much his bag would net him? I have heard they are bringing over $1.25 per pound. Sooooooooo.......maybe half bags are not a "half-bad" start!


Jennifer stays busy with her work at the Chamber of Commerce and Christmas season is around the corner so the big parade plans are foremost on her mind I am sure. Derrick is still carting the mail and keeping his lawn maintenance business going too. So they are busy with work and raising boys who are into everything! I am glad they are young and vibrant and keep up that busy schedule.
